Julie has been practicing audiology since 1981, when she received her Master of Science degree in Audiology from Columbia University in New York City. She completed her DOCTOR OF AUDIOLOGY degree in August of 2003 from the Pennsylvania School of Optometry's Audiology Division. Julie has excellent academic training and an extensive background in the diagnosis and evaluation and treatment of hearing loss as well as solid technical skills in the fitting and dispensing of hearing aids. Her areas of expertise encompass patient care, diagnostic testing, tinnitus management and the evaluation, fitting, and dispensing of all levels of hearing aid technology for all ages.
Julie began her training at the renowned League for the Hard of Hearing in New York City and later served as senior audiologist there for a number of years. She gained further experience while working at several private audiological practices before joining Solomon-Shotland Audiology at The Burke Rehabilitation Hospital. During the last 20 years, she took some time off to have a family and also lived in Europe while her husband was involved in opening EuroDisney.
During undergraduate school, while majoring in Special Education at Brooklyn College, Julie took the course in speech and hearing anatomy that steered her towards a career in Audiology. She became so engrossed in the class materials that it prompted her to change majors. "The rest is history,"she says. New advances in hearing aids, cochlear implants, and assistive listening devices over the past 20 years, provide increased capabilities for better communication. My focus has always been to impact the quality of life of my patients by providing them with better hearing. She added, "I am grateful that I have the knowledge and have developed expertise in this area over the years to help children and adults of all ages to hear."

Debra has been practicing Audiology since 1979 when she received her Master of Science degree in Audiology, from Gallaudet University in Washington D.C. She received her DOCTOR OF AUDIOLOGY degree in 2007 from the Audiology Program at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. She has worked in all aspects of Audiology, with the past ten years of her career devoted to diagnosing hearing loss and fitting technologically advanced hearing instruments on patients whose ages range from birth to senior adults. Her oldest patient is 104 and completely happy with her hearing aids. Debra's expertise is in patient care and working with the profoundly hearing impaired. Since the early 1980s she has worked in various hospitals, including Downstate Medical Center, St. Joseph's in Paterson, New Jersey, St. Vincent's Medical Center on Staten Island and The Burke Rehabilitation Center in White Plains. Debra entered college wanting to become a speech pathologist. During her last year of college she completed course work in Audiology and became hooked, she says. 'I was fascinated by the science and function of the hearing system, and the instant gratification patients experience through amplification and the technology that was being developed to improve the quality of life for the hearing impaired.' She added, 'There is nothing more gratifying than placing a hearing aid on a child or adult and watching them react to new sounds.'

Patricia knew that her career would include helping people in some way. As our newest staff member, she is doing what she loves best-helping people every day. We are fortunate to have her on our staff!
Patricia is an expert in hearing aid fittings, patient and family counseling, and diagnostic testing. She has an excellent professional background including three years working at ENT Allergy Associates in White Plains. She graduated from the State University of New York at New Paltz with a Master's of Science in Audiology and she also received her Bachelor's of Arts in Communication Disorders from SUNY at New Paltz. She was on the Dean's list at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
One of Patricia's most gratifying experiences as an audiologist came when treating a woman from Timbuktu, Africa. "The woman experienced a sudden hearing loss in one ear. For nearly four years, she was unable to receive medical attention for her condition. After she moved to the United States, I was able to fit her with a hearing aid that routed the sound from her unusable ear to her better ear." Patricia added, " It was the first time she heard anything from her deaf side in over four years. We were both touched by this experience.
